Editorial board

last updated 2026-07-10

The journal is currently edited by its two founding editors. A broader, institutionally independent editorial board is being formed and will be announced on this page — each member listed with name, affiliation and country.

Founding editors

  • Matthias Templ — FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Olten, Switzerland.
  • Jürgen Degenfellner — ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland.

Both founding editors are statisticians. Every editorial decision is read and signed by a named editor — accountability is a person, not a process diagram — and the editor who signs a decision is named to the authors in the decision letter.

The board that is forming

We are deliberately honest here: the journal launches editor-led, and the wider board is being assembled rather than announced prematurely. Board members will serve as subject editors and — independently of the founding editors — as arbiters in the appeals procedure. Names, affiliations and countries will be published on this page as members are confirmed.

Independence safeguards in the meantime

  • The founding editors do not publish their own research in the journal.
  • An appeal is never heard by the editor who signed the contested decision (see the complaints & appeals procedure).
  • Every decision is auditable: the assessment record behind each verdict is persisted and can be re-examined.

Interested in serving?

We welcome expressions of interest from researchers in statistics, applied mathematics and data science with a commitment to reproducible research — particularly researchers whose institutions and regions broaden the board.
