We work with organisations that share one aim with us: research that others can check. A paper they have already reviewed comes to us with that work, and we add our own step, the reproduction of its code and data before publication.
What MetaROR does
MetaROR reviews preprints in metaresearch, the study of how research is done, in the open. The reviews, an editorial assessment and the authors' response are published with a DOI under CC BY, and most reviewers sign their names. MetaROR does not publish the papers itself. Authors take a reviewed preprint to a journal of their choice, and partner journals commit to using the MetaROR reviews.
How it works with JRepStat
- Reviewed at MetaROR. Your preprint has received its MetaROR reviews and you have answered them.
- Submit to JRepStat. Add the link to the MetaROR reviews to your submission.
- We build on the reviews. We read the MetaROR reports and your response as the round you have already answered. Our assessment looks at what is still open, and we rerun your code and data.
- A named editor decides. The decision is signed by an editor of the journal, and the published article links the MetaROR reviews.
What DORA is
DORA is a worldwide initiative to improve how research is assessed. Its signatories commit to judging research on its own merits and to stop using journal-based metrics as a substitute for the quality of a paper.
What it means at JRepStat
We assess a submission by its question, its methods, its reporting and whether its results can be reproduced. Where it was published before, and how often a journal is cited, play no part. Our full statement is on the page research assessment.
